PARIS, November 8, 2026
Amundi announced a tokenized European equity index fund share class on public Ethereum on November 5, expanding its blockchain programme beyond cash management as Ether ended November 7 at $2,236.55.
The asset manager developed the class with CACEIS. Its official announcement confirms issuance while leaving the existing fund operating model and conventional distribution channels in place.
Ether’s November 7 UTC trading range was $2,204.30 to $2,251.90, with reported volume of 50,794 ETH, according to ChartExchange’s historical table. The close was about 13.3% below October 7. These figures describe the broader market rather than a measured reaction to Amundi’s announcement.

ETHAmundi moves equity fund units onto Ethereum
Amundi described the launch as an extension from cash-management products into index investing. It said CACEIS supplied technology and infrastructure for tokenizing the units, and identified institutional clients and digital platforms as audiences for its broader fund programme.
Coverage naming the product identifies it as Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600. Amundi’s own short announcement does not name the fund or provide a share-class identifier, so that identification remains attributed to reporting.
The STOXX Europe 600 benchmark covers 600 companies across 17 countries and 11 industries. Its universe spans large, midsized and smaller listed companies, giving the index a broader remit than a basket limited to Europe’s largest businesses.
The geographic reach also extends beyond the European Union. STOXX’s component-universe description includes Britain, Switzerland and Norway alongside EU markets. European equity exposure therefore should not be read as a portfolio confined to the eurozone.
A fund unit represents an investment in a pooled portfolio. Recording that unit on Ethereum is a different transaction from having each underlying company issue its own stock on the blockchain. The announcement does not establish that 600 individual European shares have become freely transferable crypto tokens.
That distinction separates the fund’s investment exposure from its recordkeeping infrastructure. Changing where units are recorded does not, by itself, change which companies drive the portfolio’s returns or remove equity-market risk.
The launch adds another example to the institutional use of public chains following BlackRock’s Ethereum fund initiatives. The relevant comparison is the infrastructure choice; cash funds and equity funds still serve different investment needs.
October’s €100 million went into a cash fund
The clearest recent subscription figure belongs to a separate product. On October 8, Crédit Agricole Assurances announced a €100 million investment in a tokenized unit of Amundi Funds Cash EUR, a money market fund managed by Amundi and held under custody by CACEIS.
The insurer described that transaction as its first investment in a tokenized financial asset. Its statement assigned portfolio management to Amundi and identified CACEIS as the provider of tokenization infrastructure and digital wallets.
That division of responsibilities illustrates how blockchain records fit inside an institutional investment process. The manager, investor and asset servicer retain distinct roles even when a unit is represented digitally.
The October transaction gives a concrete example of institutional participation in Amundi’s cash-fund work. It does not supply an opening balance for November’s equity class, and the €100 million should not be added to that class’s assets.
Nor does the earlier cash-fund transaction establish the equity product’s subscription currency, custody arrangements or redemption timetable. Those terms need to be checked for the particular class an investor is considering.
An equity strategy introduces a different source of returns and losses from cash management. Tokenization describes the format of the investment record, rather than a common risk category covering every fund that uses it.
Ethereum issuance leaves buyer-access terms unresolved
The reviewed launch announcement does not disclose the new class’s size, minimum investment, fees, eligible jurisdictions or distribution venues. It also provides no measured settlement-time improvement or cost saving.
Public-chain issuance alone cannot answer those questions. A prospective buyer still needs to establish whether a distributor can accept the subscription, which wallet or custody arrangement is supported, and how the investment can be redeemed.
Trading access is a separate issue from issuance. Previous permissioned-pool developments illustrate how tokenized securities can retain issuer-controlled wallet checks. Amundi’s announcement does not establish integration with those pools or availability as collateral in decentralized lending.
The practical test is whether digital distribution gives eligible investors a usable route into and out of the fund. Without published terms, claims of unrestricted retail access, continuous trading or immediate cash redemption would go beyond the available evidence.
Fear & Greed Index

The next useful disclosures are a class identifier, investor-access documentation and subscription figures. Those would allow the market to assess distribution and adoption beyond the confirmed issuance, without treating the size of an existing fund as money already moved on-chain.
