HoloFuel launched a voluntary one-to-one HOT conversion on November 1, opening payments for hosting and other services while leaving holders who complete the swap without a general right to reverse it, according to the operator’s terms.
Holo announced the launch, while Net Zero FZC operates the HoloFuel Network and swap under an assignment from Holo Limited. Members access the network through the Unyt accounting application. HOT continues to exist as an Ethereum token with exchange trading pairs.
The launch comes against a weaker monthly crypto backdrop. ChartExchange’s completed November 3 UTC session showed Bitcoin closing at $77,336.75, up 0.864% that day, compared with $86,511 on October 4. These figures describe the wider market, not HOT performance or a market price for HoloFuel.

In its November 1 announcement, Holo said holders could begin migrating and use HoloFuel for hosting, AI chatbots, digital identity tools and other services offered by participating providers. The announcement did not disclose the number of users joining, HOT converted or payments completed.
HoloFuel is a mutual-credit accounting unit built on Holochain. In that design, balances record payments between participants, and permitted negative balances are governed by credit limits. It is distinct from the HOT token issued in 2018 and from the underlying software framework.
The launch changes the timeline described in Daily Crypto Briefs’ earlier HOT and HoloFuel analysis, which covered a planned conversion window. The November notice establishes availability, while the new operator documents set the conditions now governing participation.
Those conditions include identity verification and a minimum age of 18. Net Zero’s launch guide supports Windows, macOS and Linux computers; mobile devices are not yet supported. The guide estimates 30 to 45 minutes to join, rather than promising an instant wallet conversion.
Only HOT on Ethereum mainnet can enter the bridge. Tokens on networks such as Base or Arbitrum must first be converted to Ethereum-mainnet HOT, the guide says. Ethereum transaction costs still apply even though the published swap rate carries no fee or spread.
HOT bridging and HoloFuel conversion have different exits
The Platform Terms, effective November 1, divide the process into two separately initiated actions. Bridging locks HOT in an Ethereum contract and records an equal mirrored HOT balance in Unyt. Swapping then converts that mirrored balance into HoloFuel.
Stopping after bridging preserves a route back: mirrored HOT can be returned through the bridge to release an equal amount of locked Ethereum HOT. The terms say release requires multisignature control by independent parties, with no single party able to release tokens alone.
Completing the swap changes that position. HoloFuel received through conversion cannot be swapped back simply because a holder changes their mind. Ordinary transfers from another participant also do not qualify for conversion back into HOT.
Only HoloFuel earned by providing eligible network utility can take that route. The operating parameters narrow eligibility to service payments received through authorized harvesting agreements. A positive HoloFuel balance therefore does not, by itself, establish a right to withdraw HOT.
The distinction is more consequential than the one-to-one headline ratio: exchanging equal numbers of units does not preserve identical liquidity or redemption rights. Net Zero says HoloFuel has no established market, and its launch guide says there are no short-term plans for an exchange listing.
A separate computing-network proposal, Akash’s planned AKT move to Solana, also used a one-way, one-to-one conversion design. That October proposal concerns a different token and governance process; HoloFuel’s completed launch comes with its own eligibility and exit rules.
Six-month swap window meets a 90-day provisional licence
Net Zero promises that HOT-to-HoloFuel swaps will remain available for at least six months from November 1 and that closure will receive at least 60 days’ notice. The terms do not announce a fixed final deadline, and bridging out of unswapped mirrored HOT is not limited by that window.
The operator separately says it holds a provisional Mutual Credit System Services licence issued by OurWorld Zanzibar as regulator of the Zanzibar Digital Free Zone. Its stated term is 90 days from November 1 unless renewed, replaced or ended earlier. This account comes from Net Zero’s own published terms and parameters.
The six-month conversion commitment consequently extends beyond the initial licence term. Continued authorization is a separate milestone to track. The terms explicitly say the licence does not represent official endorsement or a guarantee of HoloFuel’s security or commercial viability.
If authorization ends, the terms provide for public notice and, within the operator’s control and in cooperation with the regulator, at least 60 days for bridging mirrored HOT out. Existing HoloFuel balances would remain ledger records, but their subsequent usability would depend on an authorized operator.
Alternative.me’s Bitcoin Fear and Greed Index read 34, or Fear, on November 4, versus 26 the day before. It measures broader Bitcoin sentiment rather than HoloFuel adoption.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the HOT to HoloFuel swap live?
Holo confirmed the launch November 1, 2026. Net Zero's terms provide a voluntary one-to-one swap through Unyt after eligible users bridge Ethereum-mainnet HOT and complete identity verification.
Can I swap HoloFuel back to HOT?
A completed HOT-to-HoloFuel swap cannot be reversed. Only HoloFuel earned by providing eligible network services qualifies for conversion back to mirrored HOT; balances received by swapping or ordinary transfer do not.
Is HOT burned or automatically migrated?
No. Participation is voluntary, and bridged HOT is locked rather than burned. Unswapped mirrored HOT can be bridged back to Ethereum.
When does the HoloFuel swap window close?
The terms promise at least six months from November 1, 2026, with at least 60 days' notice before closure. They do not announce a fixed closing date. The operator's separate provisional licence lasts 90 days unless renewed, replaced or ended earlier.
