Ripple launched Ripple Mint on Thursday, giving existing institutional customers web-console and API access to mint, redeem, bridge and manage its RLUSD stablecoin as XRP traded near $1.10, down 4.4% over 24 hours in a softer crypto market.
The product turns several previously separate operational steps into one access layer for the dollar-backed token. Ripple said the service is available today to existing RLUSD customers, but did not disclose client names, pricing, transaction limits or a timetable for wider access.
CoinGecko data checked July 23 put XRP’s market value near $69.0 billion and 24-hour trading volume near $996 million. Bitcoin traded near $64,799, down 2.3% on the day, while XRP was roughly flat over 30 days, according to the same market-data provider.
XRP
XRPIn its launch announcement, Ripple said the platform supports direct RLUSD minting and redemption, cross-chain bridging, transaction-status queries, account-balance access and real-time webhook notifications. The company said each stage uses consistent reference IDs, a feature intended to make reconciliation easier for exchanges, market makers, fintechs and institutional customers.
The rollout follows RLUSD’s recent multichain push, including access through the XRPL EVM Sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain. It also gives Ripple a more direct control point for the operational side of a stablecoin that it markets for payments, trading and treasury flows.
The immediate test is not the software release itself but whether customers use it to move more RLUSD through real settlement and liquidity workflows. A unified mint-and-redemption layer can reduce manual handling, but it does not by itself establish trading depth, payment volume or adoption at counterparties.
Ripple Mint Adds RLUSD APIs and Web Console
Ripple said institutions can use the new service either through a user interface or through programmatic integration. That distinction targets two separate workloads: an operations team supervising a transaction in a console, and a treasury or trading system that needs to initiate and monitor activity without manual re-entry.
The company said its APIs and webhooks cover key lifecycle events including fiat receipt, mint processing, on-chain settlement and payout completion. The release also says customers can initiate redemption through the interface or API, with support for fiat settlement and the movement of RLUSD across supported blockchains.
That is a practical expansion of the product’s role. Instead of treating issuance as a back-office request separate from wallet and accounting systems, Ripple is positioning RLUSD as an instrument that can be connected to internal workflows. Ripple did not say which blockchains, banks or payment partners are enabled through Mint on day one beyond the networks named in its broader RLUSD materials.
The Ripple stablecoin documentation lists the Mint user interface, transaction workflows, bridging, webhooks and API resources. It describes RLUSD as designed to maintain one U.S. dollar and as backed by a segregated reserve of cash and cash equivalents, redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars.
RLUSD Expansion Keeps XRP Ledger in Focus
RLUSD began on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, and Ripple now describes it as available across additional blockchain environments. The company says the XRPL EVM Sidechain is central to that approach because it links EVM compatibility and familiar Ethereum tooling with the wider XRP Ledger ecosystem.
Ripple’s launch post says the product is meant to make RLUSD available wherever liquidity, applications and users are active. It also says XRP is intended to remain complementary for liquidity, settlement, swaps, collateral and payments across supported chains. Those are company statements, not evidence that volume has already shifted.
The distinction matters for readers following RLUSD’s earlier expansion through Wormhole. Wider technical availability makes it easier for market makers and applications to use the same settlement asset across venues. It does not guarantee that they will hold material balances or quote deep markets.
RLUSD and XRP also solve different problems. Ripple’s stablecoin page says RLUSD is fully backed by segregated cash and cash-equivalent reserves, while XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger with a market-determined value. Stable-value settlement and a volatile bridge asset can operate in the same network, but a treasurer’s exposure and accounting needs differ for each.
Daily Crypto Briefs recently examined that institutional shift in Mastercard’s stablecoin settlement expansion, where payment networks focused on the operational rails around dollar tokens rather than on speculative token demand.
Stablecoin Operations Move Into Institutional Workflows
Ripple Mint arrives as companies increasingly compete over the less visible parts of stablecoin adoption: issuance, redemption, compliance checks, wallet controls, accounting and connectivity to payment systems. Those tasks can decide whether a regulated token fits an institution’s existing process, even when its blockchain transfer is fast.
Ripple said RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York Department of Financial Services-chartered trust company. Its product page says the token is supported one-to-one by cash deposits, U.S. Treasuries and cash equivalents, and that availability depends on jurisdiction.
The launch parallels other efforts to package stablecoin handling for large customers. Visa’s new stablecoin platform likewise combines wallet controls and minting, movement and management functions, although it begins with a different dollar token. The emerging competition is as much about governance and integration as it is about the token brand.
Fear & Greed Index
July 21, 2026The wider market backdrop remains cautious. The latest indexed reading from Alternative.me’s Crypto Fear and Greed Index was 25 on July 21, in the Fear category. That sentiment reading is not a measure of RLUSD demand, but it underscores the difference between a product rollout and market validation.
What comes next is measurable. Watch for new Mint customer disclosures, RLUSD balances and transfers on supported chains, exchange and payment integrations, and any details from Ripple on wider access. Those data points will show whether the platform becomes routine financial plumbing or remains a product layer used by a limited group of existing clients.
